Rainy day in...July.

~The last few weeks have been a bit of a blur...The fires that threatened Colorado for now 2 weeks are coming to a close thank God. Work, full time mommy duty and other "life" things have me simply spent. There are many things to look forward to though, one being we get to spend my dad's 50th birthday with him in August! The kids and I are going to drive out to California to see him and to celebrate and to simply be with family. I must say I have missed it quite alot recently, I have the single mommy gig down pat but it is nice to laugh with my family, joke and simply talk about old days! My dad is an amazing man who is humble, kind and simply the sun and the moon in my book! He and I have grown together these last 27 or so years he has been in my life. He does not like big deals being made of him and is not for a birthday party but we will celebrate him in a smaller way, he deserves it. That will be our "summer vacation" if you will! I would love a real vacation, but simply not in the cards this year, I hope next year to make it a priority. I have some dear friends here in Colorado Springs, Jay and Marci who swear by Cruises, so I think that is something I will look into at some point! My brother and sis in law are taking my 2 nieces on a Disney cruise this summer, My trio would love that when they are older...:) Our July 4th celebration was with my close friends Jay and Marci and their family and friends. It was a time of fun and great conversation, great food and great times! The kids had a blast as did I, and since July 4th is one of my most favorite holidays it was nice to spend it with people who feel the same about that sacred day. I thought back to when it began to be my TOTAL favorite holiday, yes as a kid I remember baseball games, BBQ's, swimming, fireworks and family and friends...But the time it really hit home for me was when I began to serve my country, MY COUNTRY! I was a young kid who wanted to make a difference, I chose the Air Force but at times I feel it chose me and I went and did, without a second thought. I know the California girl in me attacked a few times but I dug in my boot heels deeper and pressed on, I did the best of my ability every single day while I was in the Air Force...Why you ask? Because it meant that much to me, to serve my beautiful country while learning alot of real life lessons along the way. I have never been one to back down, I have always handled the hand that has been dealt my way. My daddy said that to me the other day, that they never worry about me because they know that no matter what I will get through it. Be it health issues, life issues, or anything in between I will rock it! :) Although my Air Force career is over I still serve beside those still active duty and for that I am blessed. I am blessed God gave me a job with Peterson AFB and that I have been able to continue to help, help in a different sense but my loyalty still remains to my country. As we embark this summer on campaign's from Democrats and Republicans I challenge you to make a list, what is important to you, your family, and what is in the best interest of us as a whole! Not one side against another, but good for the entire unit! OUR AMERICA! I will attach a few pictures from July 4th. I hope this update finds you all healthy and well...I count my blessings every day, my kids and I are great! Love and blessings always! <3 ~Sarah
