Summer is seriously upon us in Florida, the humidity is 200%(or so it feels!) and it is HOT, HOT, HOT! All the locals tell me, "Oh this is cool, this is not hot yet!" My answer for that is usually my mouth hanging open and my mind at a loss for words, all the while attempting to tame my afro hair which has decidied it has a mind of its own! For all of you Friends watchers, the episode where Monica got dreadlocks because her hair was HUGE due to humidity, yeah...I am considering those! Haha! I took a month off from social media and even blogging and concentrated on getting the kids potty trained, and just focusing on everything else...I went to California to see my sister graduate high school and then the kids went with Jason to West Virginia so they could see their cousins and enjoy running free in the hills and loving on the family. We all had wonderful times! School starts back soon, and I decided to take a job at Starbuck's. It will be nights, to avoid daycare costs but for me, for our family this was a good step and a positive one! I am still networking and am hopeful that by the end of the summer a GS job will come available but for now I am a full time student, a full time mommy and a full time Starbuck's barista! I have been doing tons of computer based training for the job but I actually start on the machines tomorrow and I am stoked. I work with an awesome group of people who are very diverse and welcoming, they want me to eventually be an assitant manager, sooner rather than later so that will hopefully come when the time is right. I love chit chatting with the customers and finding out about different people, and how they all come to one place like Starbuck's for a book club, or simply a quiet cup of coffee, or to relax and read their book. We open our doors to all types of people and that is a comfort for many, to include myself because before I was an employee I would go there once a week to read and relax without kids and just re-charge a bit, now I get to be a part of that for others! I think it is an awesome thing and I think it will open doors to things-things I am excited for! At my store we get a lot of the customers that pay for the car behind them, their orders and a lot of pay it forward...It is such a good feeling, to see the smiles on people's faces to know that a simple act like that makes a person's day better! I have had a few of these situations happen to me in my personal life in the last few years from complete strangers and it still amazes me, that amidst our world at war, sensless acts of sadness on people that there are those that still strive to be that person, that person to pay it forward. I know I am teaching my children to be giving, even if you feel you may not have anything to give...Well folks you always have something to give...Always!
This post will be quick today because I am going to the pool with my favorite 3 little people before it rains again! Enjoy the pictures I posted and remember...A simple smile, or a small gesture can make a persons day go from so-so to amazing.
Love and blessings to all~
